Good morning, Vagabonds. Shirttail Slim, I don’t think I saw you yestreday; I’m glad to see you today.

Yesterday I passed a souvenir store run by Tzotzil Indians fwho came to Merida from Chiapas to sell handicrafts. I spoke to them with a few words of Tzotzil, a Maya dialect, and they asked, “Is your name Arye.”

Something else I remember from many years ago: a handdog stand on a Merida street corner by a huge rain puddle. A car drove past and sprayed the stand with the hotdogs with the rain water from the puddle. i feel very sorry for anyone who consumed those hotdogs.

    Morning, Village.
Heck, Arye. A little dirt never hurt anybody.

Today I intend to move my first pickup load of stuff to my new house, even though the house isn’t ready for occupation, yet. I’m going to cart the Christmas decorations over there. Would’ve done it weeks ago, but for the weather. Yesterday I rigged up a pulley in the attic to help lift the heavy boxes up there for storage.

    Good morning, good people.
    Kind’a grey outside right now.
Wow, I just went blank, can’t think of a thing.
    I must’a been a baaad boy.
    Well, have a good one.

@Arye: How did the Indians know your name?

@Montana Lady: I saw your late comment yesterday (Oscars!). One news item pointed out that, historically, a movie doesn’t win Best Picture unless the director is also nominated for Best Director (the last exception was Driving Miss Daisy, some 24 years ago). So even though 9 films were nominated, the actual contenders for the Best Picture statuette appear to be Amour, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Life of Pi, Lincoln, & Silver Linings Playbook. Les Miz appears to be the “Hollywood” choice, as was “Exceptionally Loud and Incredibly Close” last year (neither showed up well on critic’s “Top Ten” lists).

BTW, I just got a DVD of Eve’s Bayou from the library to watch again…I saw it in the theater back in 1997 (most critics panned it, but Roger Ebert put it as #1 on his “Top Ten” list that year & I usually like what Ebert likes).

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

David: Congrats on the first load into the new house! Even though you aren’t actually moving yet, it still feels good, doesn’t it. Recommendation from recent personal experience: Don’t drag out the move. Pack up and move most of it all at one time. Moving a bit at a time just prolongs the agony. About halfway through, both houses look half-empty and depressing.

Florchi, excellent predicting job on the Oscar nominations.

@FLORCHI: I guess they associated my using Tzotzil words with my past interest among the Tzotzils in their language.

    Good Morning, Everyone,

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…………!!!!!!!!!!!! Only 5 this morning! And, we let the fire die out during the night ’cause we were so nice and warm under the quilt and blankets that we slept like babies! Now it will take an hour to heat the house back up. BRRRRRR! We are still adamant about not using the propane to see if we can go without! Did it all last winter, and so far, all this winter.

We only see a light dusting of snow, after it snowed all day. But, it was so windy that we have large drifts, and nothing to shovel yet. (no problem!)

They moved a bunch of equipment onto our property. They will probably start the tree work come Monday, weather permitting. (5 degrees with the wind is NOT good working weather!) Supposedly it will take them 3 or more weeks to complete the work.

    @Arye Uygur

Arye, It seems that one can get there too fast. back when I complained abut my early posts being gone when I came back later in the day,
I began doing my early posts, then going away, then back and they would be there, but gome later. Last night, I found the strip had changed early, and I posted ot the new strip before 15 minutes after the hour. Came back today to find it gone. Maybe (?) that’s what happened in the past? Don’t make a lot of sense, but….?
Actually, I don’t know how much sense what I’ve writen makes sense? I’m two swallows into my first cup of coffee.
