    They have automatic “emancipation grills” if you try to take the bike from the “test chamber”… when they say “no bikes”, they really mean “no bikes”….

    Horace is now thinking with “Portal” s…

    If those signs really worked like that, I would put them up all over town. Traffic would be a lot safer.

    true.

    (And I’m a former biker. 1982-2000. One of the 1% that actually obeyed traffic laws. Kept me out of trouble.)

    Last week I had to avoid a “cyclist” who was in full gear, and riding against traffic.

    Yeah, We get accidents like that in our area, too.. both directions..

    The law says keep ’em on the street, but it seems much safer if bikes were on the sidewalk, instead (when not at the park or bike trail)… more people are usually in cars than on the sidewalk some days, anyway……

    Horace should know better than to try and ride a bike off the holodeck.

    I have seen such a sign at a public pool in Singapore. Not all pools have this restriction, it was just in a predominately Muslim part of town. One-pieces were acceptable.

    Didn’t know bike riding could be such a flight risk.

    It’s like in Donkey Kong Country games where your animal buddy turns to smoke as soon as you pass the sign.

    Ok, so you think a bike going 25 mph on the same sidewalk that mom is walking her two-year-old is safer than keeping wheeled vehicles together? Strange planet you live on.

    @No Habla

    If you read my post through and through, you’d see that I mentioned that where I live, there are more people driving than walking . Also, the bikers aren’t doing 25 around here (considerably less) and therefore pose a danger to themselves and motorists who do go over 30 and 40…

    And when bikers do ride on the sidewalk, you’d have to realize that they would not just go and run someone over… there’s enough room on the sidewalk and it’s not about keeping “wheeled” vehicles together… it’s about bikers that weigh less than a car, and can get mangled by one, or cause cars to collide from trying to keep from hitting them… on a sidewalk, the bikers usually ride slow enough to be safe….. and can more easily maneuver with foot pedestrians than 2 ton vehicles….
