Hope Samson knows what that island reference is about.

Meanwhile, Horace is using a skyhook!

Good thing Horace wasn’t more startled than he was; an exclamation point wouldn’t have helped him at all.

? It’s better to ask questions, since any sort of exclamation may not have helped you out much.. !

I’ve been there as well, getting woken up by Navy jets flying over the campground at 6:30 am. Seems I’d forgotten my alarm clock, and called in for something louder…

In looking at the images, while there are a few rocks at the base of the slide, the slide itself appears to be sand and dirt that would all pass a #4 sieve. Little stuff. No apparent cementing. It’s all loose with nothing to hold it but tree roots.
    .
Bet that’s more than a little scary to others on the island, realizing there is nothing but sand an dirt under you.
    .
Some years back, a group of us students at university surveyed the area of a local landowner who owned part of the bridge of land between the western Cascades and the granitics of the Siskiyous. His house was smack in the middle of a large landslide that had moved in recent years.

Mudslide Slim and the Blue Horizon. I suppose in this case, we might also have a blue event horizon as well.
