Behold, an un-pale horse with no name. Oh, wait. His name is Horace. And he's sarcastic. And silly. And lives in an infinitely expandable world. And sometimes gets slapstuck. And day after unpredictable day he boldly goes where no horse -- let alone a comic strip -- has gone before. Yes, there are sidekicks; a bird, a lady horse, a never-seen neighbor. And if the post-it note did not exist, Samson would have had to invent it so Horace would have yellow panels in which to play. Welcome to the bright side of the world. May the horse be with you.

Sing along with Sherlock: “Oh Sudoku, don’t you cry for me…”

Probably possible. Correct me if I’m wrong? There should be a finite permutation of sudoku puzzles given a 9×9 grid and 9 numbers

How many are there? 9 * 8 * 7 * 6 * 5 * 4 * 3 * 2 ways to fill a box, wait, google, wiki, 5 billion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematics_of_Sudoku#Enumerating_all_possible_Sudoku_solutions

I didn’t think Horace did things by the numbers.

some of those tough ones will keep you busy for weeks.

Most are only an hour or two to solve. Well, the five and six star ones. They have found puzzles rated up to eleven stars!

The nicest thing about sudoku for Horace is that they fit well on a Post-It note.

Someone called Dr. Math guesses it at 16,930,529,280 Maybe he can do it: it’s less than the national debt. $16,700,634,854,470.52

One complication when calculating the number of Sudoku puzzles is that there can be different sets of clues that would lead to the same final grid. These would have to be considered different puzzles.

HEY! Don’t EVER refer to that kind of brain stimulation/relaxation as “time wasting!”
Solitaire is good for the various brain wave forms, AS WELL as killing time until the next ButtMan movie is released!

My Sunday paper has a Sudoku with 5 puzzles melded together. the center puzzle’s 4 corners are the same as one corner of the other 4 puzzles.
.
Man, that one sometimes takes all day and half the night, other times, it takes until the next one comes out to get it solved.
.
Horace, get some sleep!

Aha, Samson, welcome back to the inside of the box. This is not a criticism, by the way, as your comic strip is my all time favourite. It is a real bummer when they are late or do not appear till the next day.
