    So, it Really does look like someone broke into the house and stole some items…I hope Hobbes didn’t have anything to do with it (in that he jumped on the thieves or something like that). I tend to think he is under Calvin’s bed… ;)

    Who steals my purse steals trash; ’tis something, nothing;
    ’Twas mine, ’tis his, and has been slave to thousands:
    But he that filches from me my good name
    Robs me of that which not enriches him
    And makes me poor indeed.

    — William Shakespeare

    Luckily for me, that quotation has never been attributed to Hobbes.

    But then, come to think of it, Bill Watterson didn’t invent the name “Hobbes.” He borrowed it:

    @ORMouseworks

    The last we saw him he was ON Calvin’s bed, just his tail was visible.
    I expect him to found there.

    Hobbes said life is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short and proceeded to live a long life of comfort in the warmth of family.

    If you fear that is a twisted over-simplification, you may be right. Read “Leviathan.”

    The glass is kicked in, not out.
    Therefore someone broke in, Hobbes did not break out.
    The thought plickens.

    Calvin’s Mom looks better In this blouse and slacks outfit than she ever did in that dress that she wore to the wedding.

    …and you’ll be volunteered by someone else because they don’t want to volunteer.

    I remember this from the original. All is well. Bill Watterson said the he took the characters’ names York John Calvin and Thomas Hobbes.
