Hobbes philosophy is, “when the stupid get going, get out of their way.”

Good move, Hobbes! I suspect that even Stupendous Man is not immune to kryptonite….er Mom and Dad.

I knew Calvin was not afraid of his father. Well Rosalyn you are now earning your money. You received 2 advance in your payment. Stupendous man will get you now.

I guess that’s childhood double jeopardy in the 1st panel. Used to be, misbehave in school and the teacher would discipline you first and then the parents when you got home, oh boy!

…yeah, not so much nowadays – more like, teacher speaks sharply to kid , who ignores him/her, but mentions it to parents at home. Parents storm into school and confront principal, who, fearing a lawsuit, calls teacher on the carpet, who is then either suspended or fired for ‘bullying’ or some similar reason…I too remember the days when the teacher (nun) would grab you by the hair and rap your head against the blackboard, and the parents giving a spanking when they heard about it…funny, I remember my classrooms as almost always being studious and respectful…imagine that…

Hobbes was a bigger role model for me in my youth than Calvin was. I still take a lot of Hobbes’ philosophy with me today.
