“KRUD-TV Boston: In the dead of night, a freighter from India carrying bulk tea bound for the factory of Bigelow Tea in Connecticut was hijacked and the tea thrown overboard. Investigations are underway, but spokemen from Lipton, Stash, and Tetley all declined to speak on the matter.”

Memorizing dates is the WRONG way to learn history. The WHYS and AFFECTS are more important.

A note from your friendly – and I enphasize this – neighbourhood grammar cop: I think you
mean EFFECTS. Google the two words for
    a discussion of the difference.

What utter poppycock! Everyone knows that a tea-party is Earl-Grey tea, with milk or lemon, cucumber sandwiches, with the crusts removed, cut into triangles, not squares, and those delightful petits-fours from our local cake shop.

Actually it was the capture of American General Charles Lee in a tavern by the British – without it ashington would not have had the troops to win the Battle of Trenton.

The Boston Tea Party was 3 days later.
