Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes has been a worldwide favorite since its introduction in 1985. The strip follows the richly imaginative adventures of Calvin and his trusty tiger, Hobbes. Whether a poignant look at serious family issues or a round of time-travel (with the aid of a well-labeled cardboard box), Calvin and Hobbes will astound and delight you.

Yup time to get ‘educated’ by corporations and the media in how to live you life like a good wage slave…. FREEDOM!!!

@Linux0s
Not nearly so many, back in Calvin’s day.
And even the ads they ran were not nearly as annoying as today’s.

True. But back in those days I remember an ad for the then-new idea of cable where a mother asks the camera confidentially, “What’s it worth for the kids to learn to think for themselves? Put a price on that, and then maybe, just maybe, you can put a price on (name of cable company.)” Oh the irony.

Wasn’t some agency somewhere at some time going to propose or pass a law that commercials couldn’t be louder than the show they interrupted?
ESPN is a real killer.

@JohnnyDiego
That law passes through my MIND nearly every time I cruise through unrecorded programing. The volume level makes an already obnoxious ad even more so, and makes the Dish Network bill (which includes a DVR) worth the $$$.

. . . think for themselves? or think for the advertiser . . . ironic, indeed.

Wait a second…how did Calvin make it inside past “Ole’ Catapult Butt”?

Don’t you have homework to do, Calvin?

@JohnnyDiego
Yes, they passed that law – and it made almost no difference. The ads are no louder than the loudest part of the show. That means the entire ad can be as loud as the loudest explosions and gun battles.

lol i do that too Calvin and im 18 years older than you.

Thank you -
Good to have that settled; it’s the lawmakers that are crooked, not the media.

This is liberty?

Every time Watterson draws Calvin’s TV, I wonder what he is watching to make the TV jump like that…..
