    42 is the number of dots on a pair of dice. Though it is confirmed nowhere, I think Adams was trying to say God does play at dice with the universe. In other words, that there is no unifying plan, so don’t expect anything to make sense.
    I don’t personally agree, but it’s clever and funny!
