There is nothing as sick and disgusting as the human imagination. CGI has nothing on that! Thank heavens!

Years ago, Mike Royko wrote a wonderful column comparing his scary old horror movies to the “modern” horror movies of his newly acquired stepson. c.davies is verymuch correct!

Actually most of the CGI isn’t really SCARY. it is shocking, and sometimes disturbing. but not really scary. Harlan Ellison said in an essay once that it what you don’t really ‘see’ that is scary. his example was a neandital sitting at a campfire and suddenly something moves and makes noise on the other side of the fire. within half and hour he’s invented knives, axes, bows and arrows, m-16’s and thermoberic bombs to keep the muther away. he doesn’t know what it is but his IMAGINATION has filled in the blanks.

What a lot of people forget is that there’s a difference between horror movies and slasher flicks. A lot of what people call horror movies these days are really slasher, depending on gore and shock rather than true fright and suspense.
