Actually, pinyon nuts were eaten, but with restraint by tribes like the Mojave because they were so rich in fats.

I can’t say I’ve ever tried one. I limit my wild chewing to the genuses of Rubus, Vaccinium, Ribes, and Fragaria.

Going Vaccinium parvifolium and Vaccinium ovalifolium picking next week. Everything is very late this year from the cold. Vaccinium scoparium and Vaccinium membranaceum are my favorites flavor-wise. Scoparum is fun, but the tiny things take half of forever to gather enough, being about 1/8th of an inch. They have a much stronger taste than the larger ones, though. Membranaceum are actually sweet to the taste and about twice as large as ovalfolium, but the bushes normally only have a dozen or so on them, which makes picking interesting…

The pop-up ads and the rude noisy commercials that I can’t stop work just fine all the time. But the reason I come to this site is to read the comics and you can’t be bothered to make those work right.

Just went to the grocery store yesterday. They have both pine and pinon nuts for sale. And it’s not Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s. .

If there was a paleontological version of Neil deGrasse Tyson the writers would have a long letter to deal with pretty soon.

Oh,come on! How much is it costing you?
You can’t expect everyone to be perfect unless you’re perfect, yourself. Are you?
