I have to agree with Arlo. There is something special about the smell and feel of a new book. Especially a sewn edition binding with hard covers.
    .
But then I am biased. One of the companies I own is a trade bindery that specializes in case bound and perfect bound books.
    .
Amazingly, with the Kindles and other book readers, there is a greater demand for case bound books.

I asked a man in B&N why he was buying six hard cover books, and he said, “If my bookcase gets zapped by static electricity, my whole library won’t be wiped out.”

People who think a Kindle can get wiped out so easily and cannot be restored should not have technology because they lack the understanding to back up their data.

I love the delicate sliding sound of turning the pages…..I never go anywhere without a book…..Doctor’s appointment? I don’t care how long I have to wait, I’m having a great time….

This argument, used by people who are afraid of new technology, is really starting to annoy me.

Actually the Bible says man was created a “speaking spirit,” So we didn’t invent words, they were a part of our created intelligence.

“Luddite” is a new word to me. Tried to look it up on-line but my PC crashed….. I hate technology!!

I’ve grown accustomed to my Kindle

(And it doesn’t take up as much room as my library did)

Hubby, who is an EDP auditor, says backing up an eReader is the silliest thing he’s ever heard of. Download them again. And if the power goes down, even if it is backed up, it won’t work by candle light.

People who know less than I about technology are Luddites; people who know more than me (and brag and name-call about it) are technocratic snobs! :-D

I get so much more satisfaction by doing a crossword puzzle on paper than online. It’s more personal. BTW, if you’re posting here, you’re not a Luddite.
