On the contrary…..there’s some really imaginative possibilities there… underwater chess? …. moonlight rock climbing?

Claremont is content no matter what!

When people ask me “did you see the commercial (name of whatever commercial they’re talking about)?” I always respond that I haven’t seen commercial since I bought my first VCR.

The downside is that I’m always looking for for products they stopped making 20 years ago.

    I know that feeling.
I like to inform young folks that when I was young we had no internet, cell phones, lap tops, smart phones, TV was 13 channels AND black and white. Required you to cross the floor and manually, yes manually, change the channel. However it was always LIVE TV which was sometimes hilarious especially the old shows of the day.
Phones had rotary dials, a real bell, and a real person to talk too (especially when you were a lonely child just wanting to talk and mom and dad were “busy”.
    Phone booths.
    Real soda shops.
And of course the bad like Segregation and other injustices.
Right now later in life, I am like the dog. Happy to sit and snooze and just let life roll on.
    Two Rules.
    1. Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.
    2. It’s ALL Small Stuff.
    Have fun.

I think you’re all missing the greater significance of this strip. That FANTASTIC flower vase sculpture.

@katina.cooper That’s pretty accurate. @Veteran I love those two rules! Once you’ve lived awhile, the small stuff just gets smaller. Your pants may get bigger, but that’s because your portions should get smaller too (Hey, I’m speaking to myself, here!)

Born 1942, grew up listening to radio. First TV we had was one channel, local content and bad.

    I can agree….believe me….I can agree.
And Carlos…..you got me by 10. We got thirteen due to my dad putting up a roof antenna that was as big as the house and rotated by a handle outside for best reception.
I remember fussing one year that Santa could not land on the roof due to the fact the antenna was in the way of his landing and blocked the chimney. My dad convince me he could come through the window or door. So if we ever got burglarized I would probably think Santa took some stuff back.

@Veteran A lot of these older strips were drawn while listening to Old Time Radio. It was a great era and I collected quite a bit of it.

@Garey I know! Where can I buy one of those? That’s the way I doodle, actually, and if I incorporated that more into the strip I think it would be a pretty funky style.
