I know it’s a comic, and comic strip characters can’t get sick or poison themselves….
but I can’t believe Janis would spray clouds of chemicals right where they’ll fall into an open pot of food!
NOTHING edible smells that horrible when cooking.
If those shrimp actually smell putrid, they’re rotten… throw them out NOW.
Otherwise, shrimp smell fishy, cabbage smells…well…. cabbage-y… etc… but those are natural food odors….
they’ll calm down when the food is done.
Get over it, or walk away.
Go outdoors, or into a room where you can open a window.
Later you can simmer some cinnamon sticks or lemon peel if you can’t air out the kitchen.
If you must use air fresheners, I’m sure the packaging, even on so-called “non-toxic” ones, warns about spraying it directly into your food!
Besides, to my nose, artificial, sweet scents like tropical mango are way worse than food odors.
Sorry to be today’s curmudgeon….
but this looks so dangerous!
