Parents helping is bad enough. But I remember my high school biology teacher helping with the project supposedly by his pet student… I came in second. (I do think that project was better than mine, just not by a student.)
Depends on what you mean by “see”. Naked eyes would not make it look like what you see in long exposure photographs, but for example “The Andromeda Galaxy” M31 is easy to see on a clear night at the right time of year. But it will just look like a little smudge on the sky.
My father had very dark hair to his dying day, but my mother’s hair went white suddenly in her 60’s. My hair has gone completely white, some years ago, while my wife’s is still long and dark. Who knows? I have done a lot with electronics, maybe my follicles got shocked…
And, in agreement with Liz: Some of us were really delighted with science and math, and would have completely resented a parent interfering. Fortunately my parents and grandparents were also in science, and encouraged me.
The whole idea of “self” and ability to recognize your self, e.g. in a mirror or a photograph or on a computer screen, is very complex, and humans don’t develop it for many months. There is a lot of research in psychology and philosophy about that.
