In that case I’ll grudgingly settle for a Quarter Pounder – the least unappetizing of their offerings. Good grief, the “big” Mac – nothing but a couple of slivers of burger buried in bun – with a superfluous extra layer of bun in the middle to boot!!! Clara Peller wasn’t exaggerating when she had trouble finding the beef.
Well at least those are better choices than McDonald’s (home of the stale dried out burger that’s sat on the counter all day waiting for someone to order it).
I played sousaphone in middle school band and tuba in high school. How did I get that job? In middle school music class one day the music teacher just had everyone in the class go up to the sousaphone and try to make a sound. When it came to my turn I was trying to be funny and attempted to make a big loud “fart” sound into the mouthpiece – but that actually turned out to be very nearly the correct way to get an actual note. Teacher held me back a moment after class was over and offered me the chance to learn to play it and be in the band! Until that moment I hadn’t even realized she had been auditioning us in that class.
And yet here we all are. (Personally, I consider this strip one of my FAVORITES! Now, you talk about the Olivia Jaimes abomination of so-called “Nancy,” that’s another matter! And you bet I unfollowed that one within a week or two of her takeover).
About 40 years after my first calculator, I decided to try long division by hand just to see if I could still do it. It took me longer than I’d be willing to admit for it to come back to me, but it finally did.
