I am a father, husband, unabashed cat owner, writer of mysteries, and family chief cook and bottle washer. I have reached a point in my life where I hope I have perspective. I try to understand those who disagree with me, I try to help those who need it, and I usually try to see the best in people. Enjoy my posts, disagree with my posts; it doesn't matter. If I make you laugh or challenge an assumption, then my words have not been wasted.

George W. Bush is working behind the scenes to keep Trump from a second term and to try to bring sane Republicans back into the party. It was reported that it was because of former President Bush’s urging that Larry Hogan became the Maryland Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate—the same Larry Hogan who had the audacity to suggest people respect the Jury’s verdict in the Trump case and was pilloried for his efforts.

I have profound policy differences with President Bush, but even he knows that another Trump term would be toxic to our democracy.

Political cartoonists like Goodwyn have no problem with corrupt, rich, white Republicans breaking the law. At the same time, if you asked them their opinion about an unarmed black teenager being shot for being in a white neighborhood after dark, they are silent. It’s a pretty messed up set of values.

I used to love building arched doorways. They always presented a nice opportunity for craftmanship.

    Good luck finding homes.

As someone who has framed numerous windows, doors, arched doorways, etc., I can tell you that it’s best to hire someone. The carpentry is usually straightforward. However, the challenge happens when you open the wall and find wires or pipes traversing the space for the new opening. Those impediments need a professional to re-route.

Yesterday was a good day for our nation and the law.

Trump just had an incoherent, lie-filled speech at Trump Tower a little while ago. The small crowd was thoroughly vetted to make sure that only rabid Trump supporters were admitted. Then the CONVICTED FELLON proceeded with a stream-of-consciousness ramble about how unfair everything is for him. Trump was supposed to pivot to appeal to uncommitted voters in the general election by now. With his conviction, it isn’t going to happen. If anything, Trump will become more angry and deranged in his speeches and rallies, turning off the independent voter.

Our Conservative friends here and elsewhere are apoplectic in their intent on making us know they will still vote for Trump.

All of which means nothing to the general election. We all knew that Trump was going to hold onto the 40% that is his cult. But the Rule of Law had a perfect day yesterday, saying once again that nobody is above the law. The election will be close, no doubt. However, the people who are silent and uncommitted now have even more proof that Trump is unsuited to ever be President again.

As I said, yesterday was a good day.
