    Check your dryer. Most of those, as well as arc welders, run off of 220 volt power. Standard household plugs are half that, 110 to 120 volts. Clothes dryers have larger plugs to fit the larger outlets. (USA anyway. If outside of the USA, not sure how things work there.)
