   That’s actually not a bad idea. Think of all the story lines as Luann goes through medical school, internship, residency and then becomes a staff doctor. Maybe some of her critics would begin to respect her.

   Yesterday, several people were discussing Vale and his actions in a 2022 Luann comic. The question was whether Vale cheated on a writing assignment.

   For all those who don’t believe Vale cheated on the assignment, please review Luann 8-8-22 through 8-13-22, and 11-1-22 through 11-3-22.

   Luann was tutoring Vale. The assignment was to write a diary as a famous artist. On August 8, Vale says, “Do I look like someone who can write a diary?” August 9th and 10th show Luann trying to teach Vale how to do the assignment. He is failing miserably. On August 11, Luann starts talking off the top of her head the way Van Gogh might… “…my manic mind, aflame with feverish visions, drives me onward!” Vale turns on his tape recorder and asks Luann to give him more of her “awesome examples.” On August 12, Vale is still taping Luann. Luann says, “…I fear I shall ever be chained to this treacherous torment!” “It’s Wednesday! I yearn to create! Why do my oils mock me?” Vale says (to Luann) “Lemme hear another one” and (to himself) “Four more to go.” Luann continues to give Vale examples (as he records them), then apologizes for using up all their time doing Van Gogh diary examples. “Did I help you at all, Vale? Will you be able to finish the assignment?” Vale responds, “It’ll write itself.” He then transcribes her words verbatim from the tape recording and turns it in as his own. I think that is considered cheating.

   Skip ahead to November 1, 2022. Luann learns that she won third place in the writing contest for “The Horrible Haircut” ($20). She learns that Vale won second place for “Van Gogh’s Diary ($35). She then realizes that his essay is her own words. She smiles and says, “I won second place too!

   Vale’s “prize winning essay” was not Vale at all. It was ALL LUANN. Vale wrote none of it. He transcribed what Luann said when he tape recorded her examples.

    He made a tape recording of Luann explaining to him how to do the assignment and giving him examples of what to write. Then he wrote out her words verbatim from the tape recording. I think that is considered cheating.
