Riffing, unfortunately, on Quasimodo, it seems. Quasimodo was not inherently evil, nor at fault for his hideous deformities. And he actually had the ability to love another. MT Greene is evil, relishes her appearance, loves nothing, and hates everything worth loving.
This discussion has led me to ponder a different inflection for the proper noun “Trump”. I submit that use of “Trumpery” (maybe “Trump(ery)”?) instead fulfills three requirements in a single word: Trumpery specifies the person intended, it embraces some of the multitude of defects in his being, and it acknowledges his appeal for (and to) so many of the MAGA folks.
The irony is that Trump has complained for years about the 2-tiered justice system. Turns out he’s right: it’s a 2-tiered justice system which baldly favors him. ANYBODY else who has behaved as he has, let alone being as felonious as he is, would be behind bars.
