What @scaeva & @Susanna said. Also, the most drastic changes came when she went into syndication for print media. Not only did the format change to fit the space, but the style itself had to change – things like the lines & colors becoming bolder & Puck becoming a truly black cat – to show up well in print.
One of those drastic changes was a bridge too far. For a few months after the changeover, we lost her wonderful watercolor work as she agreed to use a colorist the way many cartoonists do. The result was flat-looking & lacking in that Georgia Dunn “sparkle,” & she realized that not only is the painting her favorite part of the process, but it’s absolutely essential to her creativity & life in the BCN universe as she knew it. So she started painting again, & we all have the joy of it!
Update: Got one big box of Phil’s stuff ready to go to Goodwill, & started another one. All the shelf paper is in on the sink side cabinets except the over-sink one, & I actually put a few things away. I went to see manager Mike & said, “I HAVE BINS! I HAVE BINS!! GLORY HALLELUJAH, I HAVE BINS!!! Now I can START to think about this process!” I’m a whiz at packing & spatial engineering, & I can get the job done almost as fast as a pro once I have the tools, but there’s no “planning” involved – the process goes straight from my eyes to my brain to my hands in real time. And I’m more careful about it (no full wastebaskets, junk mail, or half-eaten pizzas with alien life forms involved, LOL!). AND I know where everything is!
Other people may be able to sit back & let the process be “done unto them,” but not this independent little grrrl! I had to explain to him that I CAN NOT STAND HAVING THINGS DONE UNTO ME. Withoutmy having a sense of ownership & hands-on agency & control, there was gonna be WAR (& it came mighty close on Wednesday morning). If I’d had bins a month ago when I asked for them, I could have been ready for the movers on Wednesday, & without the anxiety attacks & anger & screaming…
Time to take a load off & get something to eat. No sugar crashes today. YAY!
I haven’t said anything to any of the contractors because of the privacy issue, but Mike the building manager certainly knows how many of us are freaked out! A lot of the problem is on him for giving us exactly ZERO real guidance on how to navigate this chaos (aside from “this will happen, & this will happen…”), & for not allowing us to modify our individual situations to make them more manageable – at least not without a fight!
I still don’t consider him the enemy; in a lot of ways he’s been underinformed about the details & underequipped to handle the fallout. He knows only what the st00pid architect told him, & the architect knows & cares only about the mechanics & getting the job done fast, not the well-being of the people affected by the process…
I’d never heard of Vantablack. Fascinating stuff!

But does that mean your daughter’s 2 Voids aren’t shiny like other black cats?
