“Chad” is a delicious touch. And, alas, it’s all too true, everything said about swans in this strip. When it comes to that, doves are a pretty sad excuse for emblems of peace, love, and holiness. Ducks are OK; their, um, mating habits are a bit raw. (It may look like “gang rape”, but it’s just how they do it.

I might recommend a glance at Eric Alterman’s What Liberal Media?; it’s 20 years old, but neither the facts nor the world-view expressed by “Charles” have changed. It’s a good read, in part because non-polemical.

Actually, maybe ten years ago I came across a newspaper article in, I think, the Idaho Statesman, including a brief survey of reading habits; one interviewee said that he used to subscribe to the NYTimes, but then he found out that they just made up all that stuff. Came to him in a dream, or something.

Tick-bird is a nice touch. —I did not know that about okapi. I did know that, like giraffes, they have a tongue you can tie into a bowknot.

The content here is à propos (for a change) but the art work is as terrific as always.

That’s odd. According to several items on Russian National TV, she’s “a real looker”. Maybe something was lost in translation.

Laziness Monsters may be lazy, but they’re quick.

Interesting back-story (as it were). The contents of the text aren’t very humorous, though; perhaps “the other side” (well, the verso) “of the comics page” in most newpapers isn’t more comics.

This cartoon is unusually hard to parse intelligibly.
