I was surprised at how inexpensive a new bed was when we got one recently. We shopped online first, looking for sales. They threw in a free adjustable frame with a mattress. No box spring was needed. The kindly young next-day-delivery folk took away the old frame and bed — they even waited patiently while my husband did a quick vacuuming (and picked up dozens of lost cat toys) in the place where the bed had been.
An adjustable bed and back-support pillows might be a good long-term move. Arrange household stuff for easy access. Stock up on easily-prepared meals. Think about how stairs and bathroom-related logistics will be handled. A tote bag with long handles worn cross-body style frees up hands — especially useful on stairs. Time pain meds so effectiveness peaks at physical therapy time. An IPad or IPhone provides music, Audible or other brand audiobooks, mail/messaging, Kindle or other books, and a lap table and foam wedge bookholder make in-bed IPad use easier.
Sympathy for having to go through such a vile ordeal. Having to tell your editors to rely on old content probably added to your stress. Sympathy’s comforting, but so are solutions. Many who have obligations to provide professional-level content prefer to keep some extra work “in their back pocket” for emergencies. Having a few “one-off” strips or short arcs could both provide a cushion for emergencies and free you up for vacation opportunities and kids’ events that sometimes occur on short notice.
Love the beach blanket, cooler, and retro radio with a cute face.
