   It used to be that “appropriating” different looks, foods, or customs, showed you were ‘cultured’, and that was a good thing. Nowadays, there are people claiming ‘appropriation’ is bad, and usually the things they’re ignorant of what was ‘appropriated’.

   I’m 68. My grandfather used to say it that way all the time. He raised his kids in the roaring 20s and the Great Depression, when a dime really was a day’s wage.

   Exactly – for most actual problems, there is agreement that something should be done to fix it. The arguments start when they debate the how, and who gets credit.
