So how long until the reveal that Luann is still asleep since Friday and this is all a dream of hers, and the story ends with the status quo unchanged? Because this is way too bold a move from G&K, and they love doing cop-outs. But still, a whole lot of respect to them if they defy expectations and this ends up being real.
I think it’s a real shame that websites cut off part of the comic. I don’t like it when newspapers do it either, but at least they had an actual reason for it.
She used to give coupons that contained promises she never intended to honor, but Nancy called bluff last year so now she offers nothing but platitudes.
And it’s not even the first time: years ago she gave her whole family empty boxes for Christmas, saying they were filled with “love and appreciation for my wonderful family.”
I just wish sometime a person would respond with “presents are a way to do a little extra for a person; are you telling us that you only love your family on special occasions rather than all the time?”
Except I wish Luann would think as hard about doing something meaningful for her as she does about how to look considerate without having to actually do anything.
Think of it this way: either Luann isn’t actually giving her mom anything since she loves her all the time anyway and today is no different, or today is different because Luann normally doesn’t love her parents so her doing so today is special.
After all, remember last year when it was revealed that Luann gives her mom coupons that she never actually intended to honor? I guess she learned her lesson since Nancy foiled her plan.
I’m just glad that Luann gets to be the smart one today. Please G&K, don’t turn this into a dream sequence.
