Don’t know about nowadays as I quit taking the paper some years ago. Cost started going up and it got to where there wasn’t enough paper to wrap a fish. Don’t have a feel for how accurate the “news” was when I quit. I do know that what I see on the electronic news-themed entertainment shows from the talking heads is suspect. I mostly consume local shows for things that might affect me or mine.
Well, I’m just a kid (early 80’s) but I’m with you. Nobody’s business what I had for dinner or when I went to the store. And not interested in other’s details.
A good share of “famous people” are ordinary at best and possess only the ability to attract moneyed backers wanting to make more money by supplying the peripheral accoutrements such as costumes, smoke generators, lasers and other flashy things, autotune equipment, promoters, ad agencies, etc. etc. It doesn’t help that the market exists in the form of a rather large army of easily entertained, short attention spanned people with disposable incomes.
Went to try golf one afternoon. Shot an 84. Was getting dark so didn’t get to the second hole.
