Around here, taking it out the night before just gives the racoons and birds more time to break into the cans. Trash comes at 8:30AM. Plenty of time to get it out in the morning.
Fortunately, we live in a cul de sac, so if we happen to forget, we have about a minute until they come back by.
I disagree. When I went to France for my honeymoon, I did my best to speak the language, which was rough at best. The people appreciated the effort, and would switch to English when they saw I had reached my understanding limit.
People like to report the French to be rude, but that is not the case at all when the first words out of your mouth aren’t, “Do you speak English?” Give a sincere try and they are very kind and friendly.
