I was dropping my son off at school and saw one of his teachers and thought “she’s cute”. Then I realized she could be my daughter and felt ick. When did the teachers, who seemed so old when I was in school, get younger than me?

I agree. I would not mind a pure electric just for stuff close to home. Visiting family, going to the grocery, taking my son to school, etc. But I want a regular car or hybrid for anything outside that range.

I did not realize there even was a “Like” button for the comics.

I would not mind having an electric car if they were more practical. For around town driving and short trips, they are fine. But for long trips the need to stop and charge the car frequently just seems less than ideal. Driving from where I live to Orlando would require me to spend 3 hours and 20 minutes charging. It would add about 4.5 hours to my trip since I would need to go out of my way to find charging stations. I’ve also read that Teslas often need tire replacement much quicker than you would expect. I have read people talking about needing new tires with less than 20k miles on the tires. At this time I can’t see me buying a pure EV but I would not mind getting a hybrid for my next car. Best of both worlds.

I had a co-worker that was quitting on a Friday. I was talking to him on his last day and he told me “On Monday I am going to have a lot of great ideas.”. I asked him what they were and he told me “I don’t know, I am not going to have these great ideas until Monday”. Never did find out what the ideas were.

Not quite an NDA but where I used to work at had a bring your kid to work day. They had to sign paperwork stating that anything they came up, while there that day, belonged to the company.

I actually saw that article when I was looking up the stats. I knew they were bad but not how bad.

I was probably not much older than the boys in the strip when I did this. I wanted to eat spinach like Popeye and be strong. So my mom bought me canned spinach. It was disgusting and for years I thought all spinach was gross. I later learned that it is just the canned stuff that is so bad.

Many of the veggies I ate as a kid and thought were gross I learned were only gross because of how my parents cooked them. Boiled everything. Roasted Brussel sprouts are now one of my favorites veggies. Roasting veggies makes them so much better. My son, he’s 9, loves roasted asparagus, Brussel sprouts, and radishes. I am guessing he would not like them boiled.

It still reverberates today. I had my son, we are white, in swim classes last year. There was a black family there and they had their two sons in swim classes. Neither of the parents nor the grandparents could swim. I like some reality competitions and the percentage of black people who can’t swim or swim poorly in them seems to be disproportionately high. A study by the University of Memphis found that 70% of black people, compared to 31% of white people, cannot swim. Black people, of every age group, have a higher rate of drowning that white people. It is amazing, and sad, to see how this racism in the past still affects lives today.

With my ex it was mostly emotional abuse. Doing things like telling our son, under 2 at the time, “Sorry, daddy doesn’t want to spend time with you. He’d rather be at work”. I was only working 40 hours a week but I was also the sole income for the household. I couldn’t just leave work because she was bored. The day it ended was when she punched me. I called the cops, filed the papers for divorce, and ended it.
