My older daughter & I watch “The Good Doctor” together. When she’s away at college we plan a time to “On Demand” it to watch together. When she came home for spring break we looked forward to having 2 opportunities to watch physically together. The first one we sat, set it up…only to find that it was pre-empted…for 2 weeks! Thankfully, now that she’s home for the summer we can watch the last 3 episodes together, snuggled on the couch.

We don’t forget. We either find the humor or get philosophical about it.

My husband is a very loud snorer. When we first got married it bothered me. One day I read a letter to Dear Abby: a woman wrote how horrible her husband’s snoring was, but when he died, she would give just about anything to hear it again. Ever since – and we’ve been married for 38 years – his snoring hasn’t bothered me. As a matter of fact, I sleep better hearing it.

I LOVE weddings. Especially smaller ones that have more heart than wallet. (We were married in my father-in-law’s apartment with under 20 people in attendance.)

My husband found out very early in our marriage that I HATE having my feet touched. We were sitting on the couch when he picked up my foot to give me a foot massage. I’m glad to say the bruise where I kicked him faded quickly. (I’ve done the same to doctors who refuse to listen to me when I say “Just TELL me where to put my foot!”)

It went wonderfully. We had a little trouble loading the van for the 1st daughter (a bit high maintenance) but we got it all in one fell swoop & not a lot of waiting for the elevator. The second one would have been easy-peasy if she hadn’t been locked out of her building! Not her fault; she was allowed to stay an extra day due to performing the National Anthem in sign language during graduation. The building was set to lock (gotta love technology). She had wedged the door open but someone moved the wedge (It was still in the middle of the floor). A quick call to campus security & that problem was taken care of. They’re both home now. All 4 of us were non-stop talking all the drive home.

Nowadays it’s going to get milk. My daughters make that joke all the time.

I’m fortunate. I have a great job (with the best boss ever), husband & children…and still have inner peace.
