When I hypothesized that the art in each strip may have been consistently altered in some small way, I was imagining that maybe the borders or backgrounds had to be adjusted (lightened or darkened, maybe) for use on gocomics or elsewhere over the years. I’m certainly not a cartoonist, I don’t know what’s involved.
Virtually (possibly) all of the strips in the past month or more have been dated 2014. The dates in the recycled strips seem to have a pattern. They start in 2013 and then increment (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) as it progresses. Sometimes they jump around, but mostly it is a consistent pattern. He’s certainly not changing the words and references in all of these strips. Probably there is a legal reason why the copyright gets updated even if the words / references are unchanged. Or maybe the art in every strip was altered in some small way for online use?
The 2014 date is not the date the strip first appeared. The strip had already ended by 2014 (it ended in 2012). Perhaps 2014 was the year it was first rerun.
Wikipedia suggests that Daddy is paying alimony: “J.J. Caucus … was originally engaged to Zeke, but married Mike, eventually left Mike for Zeke (and married him in March 2001), and later won a MacArthur Fellowship (but still doesn’t know that she was nominated by Mike, who did so in the hope that her winning would relieve him of paying alimony).”
True, but I salute Fox for their takedown of puppy-slayer Kristi Noem (on multiple shows) over the past few days. If you haven’t seen the mock interview Greg Gutfield did with her after she cancelled on him, you should look for it. Dana Perino filled in for / played the part of Noem. That was hilarious.
But why? If it is because you don’t want to receive such junk, fine. But if a campaign sending the junk out actually generates higher donations on average than a campaign that doesn’t, you should be applauding the wise use of funds.
