I just got a secondhand copy of Denis Kitchen’s THE SHORT LIFE AND HAPPY TIMES OF THE SHMOO. It contains both Shmoo story arcs; one from 1948 and the other from 1959. I rarely use superlatives when describing comics, but this is the greatest social satire I’ve ever seen in an American comic strip. It’s also hilarious and well worth seeking out. A few copies are available on the advanced book exchange.
