At this rate, it will take 30 years to eliminate the Palestinian population of Gaza, assuming the birth rate falls to zero. That leaves the West Bank, which will take another 45 or 50 years to eliminate.
The Gaza War is horrible. All wars are horrible. Gaza is not a genocide & the only reason people insist on applying the term is because once the United States is convinced there’s a genocide, missile strikes & regime change are sure to follow.
How has US led regime change in the Middle East been working out?
No one’s going to be able to solve the Middle East…. they’ve been at each others’ throats for several thousand years, and it’s now just in ingrained habit of hatred on both sides.
While Israel is our friend, Bibi is not. The U.S. has no control over how he uses the weapons we provided for their defense from external, existential threats, mainly Iran. Right now, the U.S. is between a rock and a hard place.
Genocide is what Hamas has been preaching against Israel and Jews (and America) for years. Israel’s military has wreaked a terrible punishment on Gaza’s civilians, but I don’t hear much about them clamoring for Hamas to release the hostages and end the fighting.
I realize that neither of the combatants in the Middle East is Catholic, but nonetheless they remind me of this observation from the era of the Crusades: “Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius. [Kill them all. For the Lord knows who are His.]” —Arnaud Amalric (??-1225) French Catholic abbot and military advisor, on how to distinguish loyal Catholics from heretical Cathars after his Crusaders captured the city of Béziers, 1209 July 22
Traitor Trump would have sent B52’s to raze Gaza to the ground already.
It’s far more complicated and Netanyahu is not Biden’s friend, he’s Traitor Trump’s friend and will do anything to make gullible people vote for anyone, but Biden.
But, according to MAGA and some cartoonists, this is all Biden’s fault and he needs to end it. But no one says how. Why not? Any fool can criticize, and most do.

Nonviolent protests are fine. Destruction is not.

Some cartoonists are still inadvertently supporting “the new” anti-semitism…

The international court has determined no genocide is happening.

Did she watch her baby get beheaded by Hamas? Don’t think so. Go back to your dorm that mommy and daddy are paying for and read a bit more.

If Israel is trying to commit genocide, why aren’t they killing their own Arab citizens?
monya_43 29 days ago
No women and children would be being killed if Hamas wasn’t using them as shields for their own nefarious purposes.

Israel may be an “ally” to the U.S., but they are no friend.

I think.. under the circumstances Joe is protesting.. responsibly. Surely he should not be encouraged to use force to stop Bibi’s genocide.

That was Hamas’ plan, except they just were a tiny bit outclassed on the battlefield

“Friends don’t let friends commit genocide” is the same kind of mentality that allows people to blow up abortion centers and murder obstetricians.
Biden is right. Protest responsibly, within the law. Obama used to quote John Lewis. “Get in good trouble.”
I miss Obama. If we were going to have a former president that just wouldn’t go away, why couldn’t it have been him?

Basically, the assumption that Israel is a “friend” is erroneous. we’ve always “supported” Israel – we’ve NEVER been “friends” with them!
You may consider my argument specious or overly nuanced, but it ISN’T wrong.

Friends don’t govern friend’s countries. Biden has and is pressuring Netanyahu.
