Like many of us here, I knew she was a terrible person even before this book came out. I feel sorry for that poor innocent dog. This reinforces my strong belief that there are no bad dogs, only bad owners. I also feel sorry for anybody who read her book and found out what a coldblooded killer she is. Whether they were book reviewers or political interns, it must have been traumatizing to read that passage.

Fauci tortured beagles? Or, were beagles used in scientific research that Fauci relied on or referenced? As opposed to someone shooting a puppy for not being obedient and a goat for smelling bad? Jeez, spot on comparison.

It is truly amazing how some take it upon themselves to try to defend the indefensible. She murdered a puppy because it annoyed her. Noem is a sociopath, and those who defend her are defending a monster.

I looked through all 21 comics submitted and discovered that none of them included a single comic about Biden. Is Biden totally off limits if you want to win in this category? Democrats patting themselves on the back, again. Cause no sane person would.

Personally, I am against nonhuman animal tests. “Animal Liberation” by Peter Singer. I blame the Bible.

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”Genesis 1:28

Bees play by rolling wooden balls — apparently for fun. The cleaner wrasse fish appears to recognize its own visage in an underwater mirror. Octopuses seem to react to anesthetic drugs and will avoid settings where they likely experienced past pain.

All three of these discoveries came in the last five years — indications that the more scientists test animals, the more they find that many species may have inner lives and be sentient. A surprising range of creatures have shown evidence of conscious thought or experience, including insects, fish and some crustaceans.

That has prompted a group of top researchers on animal cognition to publish a new pronouncement that they hope will transform how scientists and society view — and care — for animals.

There is not a standard definition for animal sentience or consciousness, but generally the terms denote an ability to have subjective experiences: to sense and map the outside world, to have capacity for feelings like joy or pain. In some cases, it can mean that animals possess a level of self-awareness.

In that sense, the new declaration bucks years of historical science orthodoxy. In the 17th century, the French philosopher René Descartes argued that animals were merely “material automata” — lacking souls or consciousness.

Descartes believed that animals “can’t feel or can’t suffer,” said Rajesh Reddy, an assistant professor and director of the animal law program at Lewis & Clark College. “To feel compassion for them, or empathy for them, was somewhat silly or anthropomorphizing.” NBC Scientists push new paradigm of animal consciousness, saying even insects may be sentient

I doubt that she will lose MAGA votes. Get a puppy, fail to train it, and blow its head off when it doesn’t understand what you want of it. That reminds me of the way the right would have departments of justice work.

Some twelve years ago a border collie was bred for herding sheep on a wool farm. She turned out to not be very good at all with the sheep.

The owners returned her to her breeder, who happens to be a good friend of mine. I was asked to “foster” the dog until a permanent home could be found.

More than nine years later, that dog and I are inseparable. I wouldn’t sell her for a million dollars. Bothers me (to put it too mildly) to think that Noem’s solution would have been to shoot the dog.

There no such thing as poorly trained dog, only poorly trained and undisciplined owners/guardians. It takes time, attention, and lots of love to train dogs. Clearly and sadly, the gov made the CHOICE not to provide her dog with any of those things. If training dogs well was easy everyone would do it. The gov took the easy way out and blamed the dog rather than taking responsibility for her failure to do the work. The whole story is heartbreaking, the horrible end for pet and human being who is unable to be self reflective and accountable.

I have had dogs in my life for over 50 years. Some took longer to train than others, some needed different methods. None required any sort of cruelty. All were given love. I can’t say anything about Gov Noem that would not result in my suspension or banishment. She is a bad girl, a very bad girl.

Politicians do some stupid things at times. But that takes the cake. Putting it in a book, what was she thinking? What was the edited thinking mark I don’t think anybody was thinking. How many votes did Nick Romley lose by putting his dog on the roof? People in this country like animals. Thank God, her. career is over.. We don’t need idiots.
