When my daughters hit a certain age, that was the deal I made with them. As long as they were “in bed” by a certain time, what time they actually fell asleep was up to them. As long as attitudes stayed good & grades were acceptable, I was OK with them reading or quietly playing in bed. My older one would stay up for a while; my younger one was usually asleep in minutes.
Did she eat or drink during her acting out? What about a diaper change or two? And someone definitely needs to cut her nails before her next next “Cat In The Box” event!!
Do what we do with a real cat, then – pick up the box and gently tip it until she comes out. And what – you haven’t trimmed her nails in some time? She’s not going to “claw” you. Take charge, you two!
If it gets the job done and there’s no lasting physical or emotional damage then it’s effective parenting. And sometimes that’s the best you can hope for. If the caveat isn’t met however…..
