I did something like that once when I was trying to get a pic of two Redtail hawks standing on a utility pole.

The sun glared out the screen on my phone as I pointed it and hoped for the best. When I moved to a shadow to check out the snap, there’s my stupid face, squinting, with my tongue out signifying the application of effort.

BTW, by the time I’d done a reset and went to try the shot again, one of the hawks had departed.

    Radishes!

Seagull looks at the picture, too. I like the sound effect from the swing. Pew! Could be taken a couple of ways….

Shouldn’t Wallace have been standing on that swing?

When Spud is the one that has your back, you don’t need enemies.

Love the detail of the scuffed ground beneath the swings!

Panel 05, The closeup of Spud’s face.

Think of the artistic challenges of drawing the details of that nose up close. Will is stuck with the basic shape, but making it work from an arm’s length away. The perspective complicates it greatly.

I love how the nose kinda just kinda blends in with the eyes. A great solution. But it makes me think his nose is some kind of flap.

Anyway, wow! A great strip today and the extra effort of that one panel is appreciated.

I read where a guy got his father a phone to take pictures on his big European vacation. The father never looked at the pictures till he got home because he wasn’t sure how. They were all pictures of his face.

According to the Internet today is National Superhero Day. I am grateful to Wallace and Spud for their dedicated observance of this most hallowed of cartoon holidays.

Title Panel: Our three intrepid heroes are walking to the swings. Wallace has his arms out to his side like in an old Popeye cartoon and a fierce look of determination on his face. Spud and seagull are looking at each other with a look of wondering just how this will turn out.

Wallace’s form and expression are splendid, and it looks as if Spud got the timing just right. Fortunately, even though Spud missed the moment, our Will captured it.

Did anyone else play the game where a runner would time the swings of two or three kids on swings and run between them when they were at the top of the pendulum in hopes of making it to the other side? There were some epic crashes when a runner would mess up the time or lose his nerve midway through the gauntlet. Most of the time it was girls on the swings and every so often there was an “Amelia” who would purposely mess it up and stick her feet out and give the runner a good hard kick in the side.Good memories…Good times…
