Sung off key, but with lots of rhythm, of course. Because lots of conservatives are—I presume—into the rhythm method.

To think that my master’s paper was on “George Wallace and His Constituency, 1963-8”, and I concluded that it was still out there. However, I didn’t see the MAGAts in 1981. Then again, I didn’t see the personal disaster of Reaganomics when I was in the MBA program at Penn State a few years later, either. Ah, to be naïve and innocent again!

In some ways progress has been made since the days of Archie Bunker. But it’s depressing how resistant the country has been to eliminating these problems.

I believe it was Justice Ginsberg who said that after 25 years affirmative action shouldn’t be needed anymore. Sad how her optimism was misguided.

Meathead couldn’t have done a better job with that version.

When the Right say they want to take America back, that’s where they want to take it back to.

Some people need to be reminded: the past is irrecoverable.

Cartoon of the year, Clay, just brilliant. Who knew you could be a successful songwriter?

An interviewer asked Norman “When will you retire?”

“Retire? What would I do? I’d go crazy.”

Back then I though we were poking fun at characters and attitudes whose time has passed . . .

I must admit today’s Trumpettes are reminiscent of the Lester Maddox/George Wallace supporters. Not racial per se , as much as they know change is happening and they feel like losers but that everyone else is winning,

When Archie Bunker claimed that the solution to airline hijackings was to arm all the passengers, the nation laughed at the idiocy of the idea. Today, that’s part of the Republican platform.

Well done.. and it reminds us how far we have progressed. Or have we??

Now we’ve got Archie Bunker Trump the regressive fascist, trying to destroy every human gain made since the 1960’s, no heart, just insults, racist, sexist, mean, stupid and concentration camp Confederate republican.

The Golden Age is always there, somewhere in the mythical past.

When people say we ought to go back to “Victorian values”, I point out that their two main values were hypocrisy and hypochondria.

We used to laugh at Archie Bunker. Now he’s running for president.

Sad!

That was a great show, it helped many to take a hard look at themselves and see their ideas were wrong.

No one is a dictator for one day. Only a liar would say it; only a fool would believe it.

Brings tears to my eyes…..from laughter. Thanks Clay.

It is such a shame that all the advancements that were since those shows first aired have been overturned and changed by old white men.

Boy, the way Ted Nugent played……………..

Lears was a hack one hit wonder. Without a hysterical Archie Bunker, he has bupkis.

They had to re-film that song after the first two years—-nobody could get “La Salle”(an old model car)

And to think that Desantis and his likes are saying what’s going on in America is all “woke” (I hate the way they hijack that term and made it theirs – to say that “woke” is fake). They all want to go back to the 50s and early 60s as those were the good ole days for white men. Thank you Norman Lear and I hope your good work continues to be carried on.

I noticed that Clay is white. Why has he not been disallowed? Even propagandizing for the extermination of the Caucasian race doesn’t permit him to exist.
