    It was a pretty hefty price for the times, September 28, 1945 when this strip came out, a couple of weeks after the end of the war. Mutt says they can manage about $4 a month in the original. Their usual mode of operation was to make the down payment and then stall on the rest as long as they could anyway, so no worries there.

    Not as silly as it seems. Some buyers are taking 7 year loans, so they can buy more car, then they need.
