Satchel’s not worried about his food sitting around for a few extra minutes. Dogs eat garbage, roadkill, and drink out of the toilet.

I can’t imagine why Bucky would even think that would work.

Cats vary. I had one cat that never ate his prey. We were walking in the redwoods alone for a change. He gave me the “be back in a minute look”. In that minute, he trapped and killed a mouse in the humus, brought it to me and dropped it on the ground.

I told him I would wait while he ate it but he was not interested. I pointed it out to him on the way back but still no dice.

The next day Johnny Depp was with us. I showed him the day-old mouse and he crunched it right down.

I have had several cats who insisted on freshly opened canned food. Once they heard the hiss of the vacuum seal breaking, I had about 30 seconds to get it into a food bowl. :)

    Cats!

I prefer Bucky when he is clever, not mean. Neither Satchel nor Rob deserves some of the nasty stuff he does. I know it’s a column but Bucky needs to realize how lucky he is to have Rob as his human!

As he said before, “dogs have a narrow definition of ‘gross’”.

Given there are no “fresh caught daily” cans of dogfood, I think Satchel’s response is reasonable.

Having both cats and dogs, I can vouch for Satchel’s statement.
