Good thing there’s no such thing as the climate crisis.

We have been dealing with the wildfire smoke for years here in Northern California and nothing. A few days of it on the East coast and suddenly everyone is talking about it. Welcome to the party everyone.

SKelley believes that climate change is a hoax, and what we really need is to have some Republican throw a snowball onto the Senate floor so it will all go away.

So Kelley finds this funny? What a sad man.

New York will figure out a way to tax that breath of fresh air.

There are things that can be done. Let’s use the student loan money we’ll keep and not spend to do the following…A top priority should be managing the amount of vegetation a fire can consume. This can be done with machinery or by grazing animals such as sheep or goats. Plus, if a wildfire runs into a pasture area then it will eventually die by itself because there won’t be enough fuel.The controlled use of fire is another option. This involves burning some down some vegetation under carefully managed conditions.Fire crews work to create control lines – or fire breaks – which are areas free from vegetation. These help slow the progress of a wildfire.In high-risk areas, there should also be control lines that divide up the land and make it harder for wildfires to spread. These can be things like roads, rivers, railway lines or constructed fire breaks. Fire breaks are areas that are free of vegetation.

All I’ve noticed about this is that it it slightly cooler than it was last week and the sky is a paler shade of blue. I noticed the same things when Mount Saint Helen’s blew up in May of 1980

Back during the Dust Bowl days there were hearings in Congress to discuss the situation. One of these hearings was (intentionally?) scheduled to coincide with one of the worst storm’s arrival in Washington, in April 1935, I think. Day turned to night during the discussions and the dramatic effect motivated an intensified government response which resulted in legislation which sought to address the man-made causes of the catastrophe (such as farming practices) and provide some relief for victims. This smoke event is sort of like Dust Bowl Light by comparison. Although climate change portends a much greater world-wide catastrophe, and these wildfires are like the canary in the coal mine, folks who think like Kelley will merely seek respite until they can’t do so any longer.

This is fine quality French Canadian smoke, most of it organic as well.

When the Atlantic Ocean is lapping onto the steps of the Capitol, republicans will still be denying climate change (as long as the bribes keep rolling in).

Will they charge for the fresh air? Or at least expect a tip?

Yes, a restaurant’s HVAC system is going to be able to filter tons of smoke and dust particles surrounding the building. And of course those people opening the doors all the time to escape the bad air will not intrude on the clean air the restaurant provides.

But other than that, the cartoon is hysterical. Let’s keep making light of mankind’s determination to rush to extinction.

What we need is not what we are getting. Lots of oney designated for climate control, and where is the money going? I haven’t seen it pay to stop the tornados, floods, or anything else. The idea that politicians are going to control nature is not a hoax; it is idiocy, and anyone who buys that story (and supports throwing money to the wind) is not thinking it through. Nature will continue to evolve from one cycle to another every few years as it has always done. Not too many years ago, we were fearful that we would not have a long enough growing season to grow food crops because of a cold cycle. The best man can do toward cliate “control” is to adjust. Houses slide down the mountain when the soil is saturated because of the composition of the soil. Geologists warn people about that, and cities grant permits to developers to build houses on unsafe ground. This happened to two homes in my city this year, and the road opened up so that those whose homes didn’t go down could not stay in their houses. There are laws of nature that must be obeyed, or we will pay the price. No John Kerry will fix that. The hoax is getting us to believe that government can go around reality.

The forest fires in Quebec were caused by lightning, according to Reuters. Half of the wildfires in Canada are caused by lightning, and those fires are responsible for over 85% of wildfire destruction in the country, CBS News reported.

The cause of wildfires in Alberta is still unknown, but fires in other parts of the country are believed to be caused by human activity, like discarding cigarettes from passing trains.

If Canada would practice better forest management, they’d have fewer fires. A Green New Deal won’t stop lightening or careless people.
