I disagree here Clay, this debt tussle has shown the “Freedom” caucus to be relatively toothless.

That’s kind of the definition of a political deal: Not all bad. Not all good either, of course.

Pizza rat is there with a ……. marshmallow? Disgusting food. They’re an overly sugary, sticky mess. they either taste like chemical sugar and dust, or like pure molten sticky sugar that burns you. Eat pizza.

Silly Anti Freedom Caucus. Look at the people on that. I believe a few of them might be indicted soon. That will be fun.

Did you see where Lauren Boebert didn’t vote in protests, she was protesting the vote being over.

House Republicans demonstrated 15 times they didn’t want McCarthy. They also demonstrated their hatred of the prospect a Liberal black man was the best choice for leader.

Man, as a progressive I feel that too much was given up by Banker Joe on things in the bill such as Joe Manchin getting his 300 mile “Mountain Valley” pipeline to funnel fossil fuels obtained by fracking from his home state to Southern VA. Also the bill probably ensures that student loan repayments will begin soon:

Obviously a lot of pork was hidden to secure votes from both sides though progressives of integrity tended to vote “no” in a show of protest to giving up too much.

I also saw that respected intellectual and activist Doctor Cornel West has decided to run as the “People’s Party” candidate.

    https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/cornel-west-2024-presidential-campaign/

As for Joe Manchin, apparently he is dead man walking and thinking about running third party himself as he knows his chances of retaining his senate seat in WV is slim to none:

    https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2023/06/joe-manchin-isnt-ruling-out-a-2024-run-for-president/

My guess is that Manchin will actually draw away from repubbas and the potential Libertarian candidate but Dr West will draw the interest of progressives who tire of the centrist Democratic platform. Dr West’s platform will be similar to those put forth by Ralph Nader, Bernie and Dr Jill Stein. It is worth taking a look at by the party in blue instead of caving into the alt right.

I’m rather ambivalent about this one. Neither side really “won,” but then again neither side really “lost.” It was a compromise. In a sad way, I find that rather hopeful. But I’m old and naïve enough to think that “compromise” is what makes a government work.

I used to shake my heads at European governments which had so many political parties that it was difficult for any to get a majority and rule. Now, though, the 2 major political parties in the U.S. have effectively splintered into causes with narrow views and are making the legislation increasingly difficult to pass.

Years ago,on June 6th, Brigadier General Donald Trump set foot upon the beachhead at Omaha,Nebraska.

He promptly stepped in cow waste and swiftly retreated to buy himself a new pair of $1,000.00 shoes at taxpayer expense.

‘Put his money where his mouth is’: McCarthy slammed for empty words on Pentagon waste

The Democratic co-chair of the Defense Spending Reduction Caucus challenged House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to act on his words after the Republican leader conceded Monday that there is wasteful spending at the Pentagon, which has never passed an independent audit.“We need to get the efficiencies in the Pentagon,” McCarthy told CNN, criticizing GOP senators for seeking out ways to expand the military budget beyond the level set in the newly passed debt ceiling agreement.

‘Focused on herself’: Lauren Boebert’s Dem opponent pounces on her missing crucial vote

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) won her reelection in 2022 by only around 600 votes and her Democratic opponent from last year is gearing up to make her pay for missing a key vote on the debt ceiling deal that passed last week. The Daily Beast reports that Democrat Adam Frisch pounced on revelations that Boebert missed the big debt ceiling vote despite the fact that she was so publicly outspoken against the deal.

I am curious to know for academic reasons the demographics of the those who post comments on this site. I detect a slant and a determined effort to put down the other side with a constant spew of hate, denouncing those who don’t agree with them for spreading lies. I am curious just who these people are. Not to ban them but expose them for who they are. Uniformed.

WHICH side do you detect a “slant” in? As far as THIS moderate is concerned, it seems to be the case that far more of the hate is spewed by the right than by the left, and more untruths. There are different types of untruths, of course: if a person is simply ignorant, and proclaims something that is false but that he doesn’t know is untrue, he is not actively lying. If a person is delusional, and thinks that, for example, the January 6th insurrection was a case of “tourism”, then he is not actively lying. (Although he does belong in a mental hospital.) The active liars—or even the pathological and congenital liars like George Santos and Traitor Trump—are in a different category altogether.

Freedom Caucus members shut down House floor debate on gas stoves to punish McCarthy

Members of the House Freedom Caucus sought to punish House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) after the debt ceiling was raised. At least ten caucus members on Tuesday opposed a vote to clear the way for debate on gas stove regulations.

Oh! The comments directed to me about my posts indicate the opposite. I get flamed more than I get likes. It if Libs outnumber Conservatives 5 to 1 on this site that may account for it. In the general population the spread is likely balanced 1 to 1 with Independents being neutral. That is zimply statistics and the basics of political polling.

I predict the Democrats will cut more deals with McCarthy and keep the “Freedom” Caucus (who hate actual, you know, freedom) from ousting him.
