Clearly, Sally is headed toward being a female preacher. She obviously follows the preacher’s credo: Never say a hundred words, when a thousand will do just as well.
Since Evelyn is an airline stewardess who sometimes goes horse-riding, I’ll guess she is 28. The comic is from 1976, so Evelyn was 13 in 1961. What happened to her in Missouri in 1961? Maybe she saw a plane for the first time.
There was a short-lived television series about three airline stewardesses called “Flying High” back in the late ‘70s. I think it ran in ’78-’79 for about 3 or 4 months.
And this is exactly how the media presents “news” stories these days. All “story” and (almost) no actual news. If you’re lucky, after reading through three pages you just might find something that is directly relevant to the headline.

Sally seems to be related to my mother. Does this mean Charlie Brown and Sally are my distant cousins?
