Considering what the white sign says, shouldn’t he put “Chicos” and “Chicas”?

The Economist ran the obituary for Picasso’s daughter. He doted on her when she was little.

As she grew, and especially as she began to draw, he watched her keenly, teaching her but also learning how to see with a child’s eyes. He made her colouring books, and filled sketchbooks with his work alongside hers as they sat together in the kitchen, the only warm place in the flat. It had taken him four years, he said, to paint like Raphael; it would take a lifetime to paint like a child.

Er, ah, pardon me but don’t think we can use the terms of men and women anymore can we, oh gawd lest we offend those who are pretending or confused or fall into the category of who really cares. I told a lady at the mall I was heterosexual, she did not seem to care, so what’s up with that?

I remember Mad Magazine in the 60s had a complaint about restrooms that use only ♀ and ♂ to distinguish them, and the average person couldn’t interpret that.

In the late 70s, I got to visit a top 40 radio station: KING-AM in Seattle. In the reception area there were two doors, one marked Elton John and another named Olivia Newton John. Later I found out those were the restrooms.

Use my full name when you talk to me: Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Martyr Patricio Clito Ruíz y Picasso. Actually, Picasso was pretty much born into the big time. His professional painter father saw quite early that his boy was the better artist.

I understand the symbols, what’s the problem?

The “Bum Steer” in Tucson, AZ, had “Men’s,” and “Women’s,” signs on the bathroom doors, but the signs were arrows pointing to the other door, hence the bum steer.

I don’t care as long as I have a private place to do my bodily functions when I need to. It should not be an issue.

Abstract artists only succeeded because they had charisma and were able to find wealthy benefactors that were able to convince the public that their art was magnificent.

In Sacramento, there is (or was) a bar where the Men’s room said “Women” with an arrow pointing to the left. And vice-versa on the Women’s room.

The first time I used a public restroom (at a train station) in Napoli, Italia I walked in to find women (at least I assumed they were women 8^) using the sinks. There may have been some using the stalls but I didn’t peek to confirm it.

Thinking I’d goofed, I backed out and rechecked the sign at the door. I was in the right place so I went back in and took care of business. I figured if they didn’t care, why should I get upset about it. I was the foreigner there and no one else even looked twice so I stopped looking too. Us folk from the USA get our knickers in a twist about the stupidest things…
