I thought they’d done away with individual acknowledgement in schools

don’t all the kids just get ‘participation stickers’ these days?

Even in elementary school and middle school, I had won a few special student awards. As for when in high school for student of the month for a special redeeming quality, nope. Never won.

In my school days, the track & field team were caught shop lifting (out of town competition)— their award was arrest and a court appearance. Plus dismissed from the team.

I sense a storm coming.

That wiped the smug off her face.

I’m not “surprised”…

My son said to be student of the month, be REALLY BAD for a few days and then a little better.

Student of the week in the schools I taught in was not about merit, but about highlighting each student. More like current biography: Rachel came here from Boston Mass, she has two older brothers and a younger sister. She lives with her Great Aunt and Uncle. She likes strawberry ice cream, pizza and kite flying.

When I was in first through third grade, one student each day was “it.” Whoever was “it” got to be the classroom monitor, hand out papers for the teacher, collect the work after it was done, lead the lines to the bathrooms or the water fountains or going outside for recess, etc. We used the attendance roll alphabetically to determine who was “it” for that day.

Haha! XD I bet the rest of this wk Zoe will be griping about how she should’ve won that award!
