Yep. Humans are really really EFFECTIVE at trashing the environment. Though I started avoiding game meat when the deer started having prion-based disease. That cannot be cooked to safety (and who wants shoe-leather venison anyway?)
I did just see a speculative article suggesting that there WAS (simple) life on Mars, but it commited suicide by changing the atmosphere too much. It may not be just humans who trash the place… though with so many of us, we seem to be better at doing it fast!
Many years ago, you could take home the fish you caught on San Francisco Bay, but no more. Years ago they started noticing the high mercury content in their flesh, and tumors showing up all over their bodies. Since then it’s been catch & release only!!!
I grew up with no plastic – just glass; no factory farms – just family farms – very little pesticides – just lived with bugs; I was in elementary school before penicillin – when we took it, we stayed home from school to rest; was in elementary school before the polio vaccine – watched a lot of kids in iron lungs…
When I grew older, I realized men believed they were smarter than nature so here we are.
You know, I believe we need to stop bad plastics, for us, and the environment. Note: This is one of the only liberal opinions I know I believe in, thats how bad it’s getting.

Mum said that during the Depression her family used to go crabbing in Baltimore Harbor. I wouldn’t do that today!

Like Mrs. Castorini said: “Don’t s*** where you eat.” Good advice but too late.

There is enough Teflon premix in them that they don’t stick to the pan.
