Like taxes, I think folks should have the ability to choose the curriculum for their kids. Two from column A and three from column B, though, not what to put into the columns. Because that’s expert territory.

(Take-off, “Give Me That Old Time Religion) (— (—

”Give Us That Old Time Curriculum”

Give us that old time curriculum

Burn those books hostile to Christendom

Keep Lib ideas to a minimum

It is good enough, say we.

    .

Old time curriculum was a treasure

Taught right thinking in good measure

To fire bad librarians would give us pleasure

It is good enough, say we

    .

Old time curriculum did not waver

So each parent could safely aver

Good thoughts kids learned to favor

It is good enough, say we

    .

    Old time curriculum, we desire

    So pile that bonfire higher

To pure book shelves we aspire

That be good enough, say we

To quote the Old Farmer’s Almanac: A book whose sales are forbidden, all men rush to see, and prohibition, turns one reader into three. It reminds me of Ed Meese under the god Pruneface, and especially when I read Voltaire’s “Candide” which once was under the index while I was staunch Catholic in 1978.

If the Qthuglicans get their way they will throw Bob Woodward’s RAGE and PERIL on the fire to keep people from seeing what a psychopathic lunatic Trump is. The quotes by Trump in those books from recorded interviews should be required reading for everyone. They are enough to convict the bastard.

They can ban books, but that is so 20th century. Anyone with a little curiosity can find out what they were banning and see why with the internet.

Trying to be all things to all people …

During Youngkin’s primary campaign, he pledged to “stand up against all of the legislation that has been passed by the Democrats” and to be an opponent of abortion. He spoke out against gun legislation that Democrats had passed, including expanded background checks, handgun purchase limitations and red flag laws. After winning the nomination, he de-emphasized these social issues, seeking to appeal to suburban swing voters. In July, he was caught on a hot mic telling an activist that he would limit his comments about abortion during the campaign so that he would not alienate independent voters. Also in July, the National Rifle Association (NRA) declined to endorse Youngkin after he refused to confirm his position on gun rights by not filling out their candidate survey. In September, a Democratic-aligned group began running ads in conservative parts of Virginia, which seek to diminish Republican turnout by attacking his lack of an endorsement from the NRA.

He will face the Democratic nominee, former governor Terry McAuliffe, in the general election. On July 12, 2021, Youngkin refused to meet with McAuliffe in the Virginia Bar Association (VBA) debate, citing his objection to the moderator, Judy Woodruff, for a donation she made to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund in 2010. The VBA had held a gubernatorial debate every election year since 1985. Youngkin has committed to three future debates with McAuliffe. McAuliffe and Youngkin had their first debate on September 16, 2021, hosted by the Appalachian School of Law. Youngkin said he supported the COVID-19 vaccine, but opposed vaccine requirements. Youngkin criticized the Texas Heartbeat Act, which bans most abortions after the sixth week of pregnancy, stating he instead favors a “pain threshold bill,” which occurs around twenty weeks.

Education introduces new ideas and concepts. New means change. New replaces old. Conservatives do not like new. New makes them uncomfortable. Angry. Unreasonable.

History repeats itself….under the demented evil influencers!

A big % doesnt know what’s right from wrong anymore.

You can’t say anything without some Hawkeyes correcting you or telling you what you really meant.

You can’t walk down the streets without being attacked, shot or killed

You can’t watch a decent TV program because of all the “other” streaming choices which some can’t afford.

You can’t buy certain products without waiting months for them.

You can’t believe all the lies and deceit in our Government and on the news.

You can’t go anywhere safe, because of Covid, and some don’t care and spread it around.

A handful of “GOT NO LIFE” protestors differ in opinion on books so they relentlessly whine and EVERYONE CAVES! Authors of yesteryear are spinning in their graves.

America has lost its spine! It’s a boneless country that won’t stand up for what’s right, out freedom of speech, and press.

When all the organization, corporations, educational institutions and etc, STOP. Caving then we may get back to where we were.

No matter how hard and long they whine, HISTORY CANT BE CHANGED! It happened! Deal with it, Move forward!

Events that happened hundreds and even thousands of years ago is not OUR FAULT! WE did not do the injustices….

People need to look no further than their own backyard….take care of your family, teach your kids respect, manners, love, compassion, being responsible for one’s own actions! Respect authority and abide by the rules!

No one is above the law! Not even that one evil entity and his ignorant flock, who opened Pandoras Box!

God help us all….Democracy is at a breaking point…

And they seem to think that they are “Burning” ALL the copies of a particular book… not realizing that the publishers can just print more. That makes as much sense as trying to drain the Mississippi river with a teaspoon.

All those classics are far too heavy for the current generation. Forcing them to think when they could be bathed in electronic blather.. is really cruel.

Youngkin is fighting back against the “Radical Left” with a good old Nazi like Radical Right “book burning”. How quaint of the GQP.

On the other hand, I don’t know a better way to make a teenager read a book than to ban it.

What no one has bothered to ask Mr. Youngkin: if it’s so important for parents to help to choose what’s taught in schools, what do you say to the parents who want true, factual history (otherwise known in some circles as “Critical Race Theory”)? There are a lot of us out there who know that not liking the truth does not give you a license not to believe it.

ANY republican, regardless of protestation, will align with and be aligned with everything Trump.

These days to be a republican is to be a Trumpian. THEY cannot escape the foul stench of “Trumpism” even if one tries.

Understandably, this is not a problem, since most current “republicans” have at least a little “white nationalist” blood in them, if not a serving of bigoted racism.

Just remember, voting for reform of school boards leaves you open to the rest of the republican screed – you arenot allowed to “pick & choose” what of the republican adjenda you wish to support.

If you support Youngkin, you also support “there are good people on both sides” and “Jews will not replace us!” If you’re in for a penny, you’re in for a pound – you can’t swim in the cesspool without taking on some “shit”.

Understand that there is NO republican party apart from Trump – Trump is the republican party and you vote republican – you vote for Trump and ALL he stands for – ALL OF IT!

Interesting that one of the books is Fahrenheit 451: A book about a totalitarian Government burning all books. Maybe it’s hitting a LITTLE too close to home for the GQP…

Trouble is, once they get a taste for blood (burning books) they go even more insane and will even burn the books that Republicans rewrote…
