The real problem is with criminal fascist regimes that put oligarchs ahead of the safety of their people. Which forces them to flee, as people can only live in fear for so long, before they tire of it and seek something better somewhere else.
Yes, liberal policies of supporting corrupt, dictatorial, oppressive regimes completely ineffective in suppressing violent crime and addressing the basic needs of their people are the cause of the border “crisis.” You know, like that damn liberal Ronald Reagan…
If it hadn’t been for Dump’s elimination of aid to CA, we could’ve been able to keep the immigration along the southern border under control. But, without that aid to help make life bearable for much of their populace, the CA citizenry felt their only option was going north to the USA. They have even been willing to send there children alone through dangerous terrain for the possibility of a better life.
The left does not see them as illegal immigrants, all they see is more Democratic voters to help them in creating there perverted views on what the USA should be.
Sure, there wasn’t any problem at the border until Harris came along… good thing that Trump failed to build all that wall he promised, since it was unnecessary…
The root cause of the problem has been the support by the US government agencies for regimes who were working for their own self interest rather than the good of their people.
Whoa, Al. You’re saying American Liberal policies are the reason people are leaving their country to America? I thought it was because they all come to America cause it is great; oh right, that’s only when a Republican is in charge. “Border surge root of the problem”? Answer: US and Western European powers constantly destabilizing other nations with their power hungry influence over those countries governments.
The entire premise is wrong. It was right wing support for dictators, the war on drugs and racism that created the problems in Central America, not Liberal ideas.
Hey Al, answer me this: Why are bananas, which come from Central America less than half the price of U.S. grown tomatoes? When one includes the cost of transportation alone, it would make sense that they would cost more. That is unless YOU disregard the fact that the people in Central America aren’t paid sh!t for their work AND whenever the government tries to help THEIR people, the U.S. supports a military coup. Care to explain that?
The root cause is that fact that years ago the US put puppets in charge of South American countries and then left them with no help. Americas appetite for drugs fueled the terror that those people are fleeing. Republicans had plenty of time in the last 50 years to pass immigration reform when they had power but they like to use the talking point right before elections that the Dems want open borders which is a lie.
The Catholic church has to take a big part of the blame here too. The outmoded no birth control teaching, allowing, no demanding, that these uneducated folks overbreed! WTF do they think is going to happen?
There is more to this than your feeble mind can find. It is not simply a matter of ‘Do not come’. There are actions in the mix too. In a news conference alongside Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei, she warned against illegal migration to the US, saying: “Do not come. Do not come. The United States will continue to enforce our laws and secure our borders.”She added: “If you come to our border, you will be turned back.”Ms Harris said she wanted the US and Guatemala to “work together” to find solutions to “long-standing problems”. She said people must be given a “sense of hope that help is on the way”. “It must be coupled with relationships of trust. It must be coupled with tangible outcomes, in terms of what we do as leaders to convince people that there is a reason to be hopeful about their future and the future of their children,” Ms Harris added. President Giammattei defended his government’s own record of fighting corruption and said the fight against drug trafficking should be an key part of tackling the issue. He announced a new processing centre for migrants who had been sent back from the US and Mexico and said that the focus for both countries should be on creating prosperity. Ms Harris said the US would send 500,000 coronavirus vaccines to Guatemala and provide $26m (£18.3m) to fight the pandemic there. The region has been hard hit by the virus, further worsening living conditions. She also met civil society leaders and entrepreneurs in the country before travelling on to Mexico where she will hold talks with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Tuesday. She knows (and you, and I do too… though I have my doubts about ol’ Al) what the root causes are. What none of us knows is whether there’s anything we can DO about those causes. Because it’s complicated by issues such as national sovereignty, budget, how to direct resources where needed instead of into the hands of the well-placed or criminal (or both)… etc. etc.
