Fireworks are like guns. If you handle them carefully with common sense, you should be fine. If you do things like holding a lit roman candle, then you temp fate.

While working in the burn unit of a children’s hospital, I witnessed a kid hospitalized because he blew a hole in the cheek of his butt when somebody thought it was a good idea to light a firecracker he was carrying in his pants pocket. They’re dangerous and nobody should be messing with them.
