It’s either smaller packages or higher prices – you get one or the other every few months.

The song “We are family. I got all my sisters with me.” popped into my head.

That should be what you need for a family of one.

Tell me about it! Cereal especially has shrunk considerably while the price has gone up!

The average family size actually is getting smaller.

Do they have a “family” size for families with no children?

There’s a lot of truth here. The USA birthrate has gone down several years in a row now.

It’s the sneaky way of raising prices. They often keep the box size the same and just reduce the amount in the boxes, at least for a while.

The other trick you have to watch out for, is we have gotten so used to the large size being a better value, that is not always the case anymore. Do the math, sometimes the smaller size is a better value.

Even when the larger size is a better price value, the smaller size might be an actual better value for you. Especially, if it’s something you won’t finish before it’s shelf life and will end up throwing a lot of it out.
