Got basically the same response from IBM about support for my system that we installed in 2012. They are now selling V7R4 and we are back at R1. R2 either has been dropped or is about to be dropped from support as well. Doesn’t really matter since the hardware won’t run newer versions.
Got a pop-up tonight when I logged on that support for Acrobat Flash is being dropped the end of the year. And something about uninstalling it, I think. Haven’t got it anyway but do have Acrobat Reader. Guess that’s why I got the notice.
Yep, that’s MS. Despite the fact that Visual Basic 6 software is being used in a cajillion places, MS stopped supporting it and refuses to listen to the pleas of VB6 users/developers. No money in it for MS.
So that’s what happened to my old Toshiba Thrive tablet last night. Turned on and half of the old apps were gone and when I tried to download them again they all said my tablet OS was unable to support them.
Biographic, Bent Objects, World of Wonder and about ½ dozen other strips and their archives all removed from GC. But some are still running 10 year old reruns like Boomerangs and others.
The Daleks eventually got some kind of upgrade which enabled them to levitate up stairs. It was never clearly explained how that happened. I believe they had “full stair-climbing hardware” installed from the beginning but were just waiting for the software update.

WHAAAT!? No Dalek Gun?!? I mean even if it were replaced by one with a STUN setting. It just doesn’t seem right.

The budget for the first series was so low, the Daleks were cardboard cut-outs. Even then, they could only afford three.

They had to call in Nicholas Briggs to do voice work on today’s comic.
