    Got braces when I was 10, back when the headgear looked like the inside webbing of a football helmet. It went over the head as well as around. The orthodontist told me I would have to wear it to school. I flatly refused, the first time I put my foot down about anything and not follow the orders of an adult. My father actually supported me. So I only wore it at home.

    Supposedly I had an overbite. But I look at old pics of me at that age and I don’t see it was that bad. I really don’t believe I had to go through years of that torture.
